SA Army General's Pledge
"Whereas the rank of brigadier general has
been conferred upon you, you are hereby directed
to continue serving your country with loyalty
and honour, to discharge your duties with zeal
and diligence and to set a good example to those
appointed under you.
What is your answer thereto?"

with zeal and diligence and to set a good
example to those appointed under me. It is an
honour to be admitted to the ranks of the
generals".

Inauguration Ceremony
The Chief of the SA Army, Lieutenant General
S.Z. Shoke took everyone by surprised, when he
arrived unexpected during the SA Army General
Inauguration Ceremony, which took place at the
SA Army College on 27 November 2008. Everyone
was there waiting to take their positions when
the Chief of the SA Army arrived earlier then
expected.

Seventeen newly appointed
generals and those who were not inaugurated in
2006 were present at the ceremony. The ceremony
was open by Colonel (Rev) Bosiki by short
prayer. The Chief of the SA Army then led in
reading the pledge. Brigadier General L.L.
Eggers read the pledge on behalf of all
generals, then general concur the pledge
individually.

After the Ceremony the newly
inaugurated generals join the Chief of the SA
Army for breakfast. During his address the Chief
of the Army congratulated all the general for
his or her appointment. He put the emphasis on
discipline.

Amongst those who were inaugurated were four
female generals, including the Chief of Staff of
SA Army Support Formation Brigadier General L.
Rossouw. "I am very impressed by the way this
event was organized, this show us that the army
is having capable people", said Brigadier
General L. Rossouw.
The next general inauguration ceremony will
be held in 2010.
