The Chief of the South African Army held his first formal dinner with Honorary Colonels on 10 October 2008, at the SA Army College.

This was the Chief of the SA Army, Lieutenant General S.Z. Shoke's first formal dinner with his Honorary Colonels since he became the Chief of the South African Army in 2004.

The aim of the formal dinner was to focus on the interaction between the Chief of the SA Army, Army Command Council Members and Honorary Colonels. It was also to brief the guests on developments in the SA Army. The formal dinner started with a briefing in one of the lecture rooms. Approximately ten Honorary Colonels including Colonel Ivin Khoza of the 2010 Soccer Committee attended this event.

The Chief of the SA Army stated that such events promoting interaction will take place in future between the Chief of the SA Army and the Honorary Colonels in order to ensure that the Honorary Colonels are updated about the changes and developments taking place in the SA Army.
