South African Army to Invade City of Cape Town
16 – 21 September 2008
The South African Army is planning to invade
City of Cape Town on 16 – 21 September 2008,
when they will take part in the Africa Aerospace
and Defence Exhibition at Air Force Base
Ysterplaat. The SA Army’s participation will be
in the form of a static display and mobility
track.
The visitors will be able to see and smell
diesel and dust from the Rooikat, Olifant MK2
Main Battle Tank, the GV6 and the Gecko when
they are in action during mobility track
demonstration.
The static display will consist of inside and
outside displays. For the first time visitors
will see the Bateleur which will be part of the
outside display. The outside display will also
consist of Kameelpard, GV 5, Olifant MKII Main
Battle Tank and Rooikat Armoured Car.
The inside display will consist of different
display from the SA Army Formations. Visitors
will be able to sharpen their shooting skills at
our shooting simulators which will be part of
our inside display. The SA Army Infantry
Formation will display their new equipment,
which includes SS7, Milan 3, and AGL to mention
the few. Our engineering will display their mine
equipment used during the demining in our peace
support operations. Our dedicated communicators
will be there to assist visitors with any
information regarding the SA Army.
The paratroopers of 44 Parachute Regiment in
Bloemfontein will display their advance static
line skills by jumping into the arena. They will
also give a fast rope demonstration where they
will decent from Oryx helicopters.
