Vision

To be a center of excellence (conventional/peace missions) in providing an affective command and control capability to the SA National Defence Force.

Mission

Headquarters 46 SA Brigade is a Command and Control Combat Ready User System under command of Chief of the SA Army, responsible for own Combat Readiness and Mission Readiness of units under command. When commissioned we will develop into a Joint Combat Ready Higher Order User System for employment by Chief of the SA National Defence Force under operational command of Chief Joint Operations, thereby fulfilling our mission as the Shield of the Nation.

Mandate

Headquarters 46 SA Brigade is one of the critical structures of the SA Army mandated by Chief of the SA National Defence Force to execute the role of command and control capability for military operations and exercises inside the borders of the Republic of South Africa and externally. This command and control capability must have an inherent flexibility to conduct conventional operations and peace support operations as the situation and missions may dictate.

Core Objectives

  • Management of the Brigade. To ensure an efficient day-to-day management of the Brigade, creating a sound environment for Brigade staff to execute their core responsibilities.
  • Force Preparation. To establish a sound, efficient and professional force preparation regime that will elevate this Brigade HQ to be the center of excellence in command and control for both conventional and peace support operations. When such a force preparation regime is in place we thus can provide Combat Ready individuals, a combat Ready User System and a Combat Ready Higher Order User System to participate in joint and SA Army exercises.
  • Force Employment. To provide Chief of the SA Army with a Combat Ready User System and Combat Ready Higher Order User System for internal and external operations as requested by Chief Joint Operations.
