Chief of the SA Army Open Day during Exercise SEBOKA, 16 October 2008, SA Army Combat Training Centre, Lohatlha, Northern Cape

SA Army Exercise SEBOKA is presented annually to do integration training with the Military Skills Development System (MSDS) troops. Evaluation of the integration training is done by means of a joint exercise.

The Open Day for the SA Army Exercise SEBOKA took place on 16 October 2008. The day was presented to both internal and external target audiences as approved by the Chief of the SA Army.

The programme for the SA Army Exercise SEBOKA consisted of the following:

  • Exercise SEBOKA briefings at the SA Army Combat Training Centre, Lohatlha, Northern Cape.
  • Demonstration at the training area.
  • Static display.
  • Lunch at the SA Army Combat Training Centre.
  • Chief of the SA Army briefing to the media.

The aim of the SA Army Exercise SEBOKA Open Day was as follows:

  • To present the conventional capability of the SA Army to external target groups present as guests or via the media.
  • To promote the Military Skills Development System as part of the new service system to external target groups.
  • To afford the Chief of the SA Army the opportunity to interact with the media.

The theme for this year’s SA Army Exercise SEBOKA was “Peace and Security for a Better Life for All”. The theme underlined the SA Army’s state of readiness and supported the message of rejuvenation through the Military Skills Development System – “The Youth of our Country Serving the Nation”.
